I think he meant, "the can." I hear a lot of writers do their best work there.
The can is where I do my best reading. And since Cannes costs me an arm and a leg, I try to work it into every possible situation. As in, "It's a bit cloudy today, much like the weather at Cannes last year when I was covering the film festival.
